Downing Street
Downing Street and the seat of the British government
Downing Street is best known as the address of the British government’s seat: Number 10 houses the Prime Minister’s Office, while Number 11 is associated with the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The street is on Whitehall, near Parliament and Trafalgar Square. Access is restricted by security measures; the government buildings are not open for regular sightseeing.
