Wimbledon: Tennis history and green spaces

Wimbledon is best known internationally for The Championships, the prestigious grass-court tournament held at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. The first Championships took place in 1877. During the summer tournament, tennis fans from around the world flock to southwest London. Outside the tennis weeks, Wimbledon also offers a quieter contrast to the West End, with its town centre and surrounding green spaces.

To explore more of London, you can pair your visit with the museums of Kensington and Chelsea or the canal-side walks in Islington.
