Amy Winehouse is dead
Amy Winehouse is dead. She died on 23 July 2011, aged just 27, in her home in north London. According to current reports, the exact cause of death is unknown. What is certain, however, is that the British soul singer has qualified for the legendary Club 27. Just minutes after her death was announced, she was added to the Club 27 list. The bizarre-sounding Club 27 refers to artists, musicians and singers who died at the age of 27.
Although public opinion about the cause of death seems clear, people on social media are mourning Amy Winehouse's passing. Amy Winehouse was considered a highly talented musician and won five Grammys during her short career. However, it was her alcohol and drug abuse that made far more headlines. According to various media reports today, Amy Winehouse had completed alcohol rehabilitation at one of London's clinics as recently as June. At around 3:54 p.m. local time, an emergency medical team that had been called earlier reportedly found her lifeless body and pronounced her dead. No information about the exact cause of death has yet been released. Experts are still investigating the circumstances and cause of Amy Winehouse's death.
In recent weeks, people had been hoping for Amy Winehouse to make another comeback. Following a performance in Belgrade before 20,000 disappointed fans, during which she appeared disoriented and under the influence of alcohol, the entire European tour was cancelled, along with a personal message.
The London-born soul singer, daughter of a jazz musician, performed on various stages repeatedly from a young age. She achieved success in 2003 with her debut album, “Frank.” From her second album onward, she won numerous awards. 2007 and 2008 were likely to have been her most successful years. The Brit Award, MTV Europe Music Awards and, above all, five Grammys feature on her list of accolades. Success and failure often go hand in hand. In the end, the media gave more attention to her life of drugs and abuse than to the successful music career that had come before. On 23 July 2011, her father's prophecy came true: two years earlier, he had spoken of his daughter Amy Winehouse's slow demise.
