Greenwich Dockland International Festival 2011

GDIF is back, the organizers announce as they unveil the Greenwich Dockland International Festival in London. In fact, it is hard to imagine London without the Greenwich Dockland International Festival. Since 1854, Greenwich has been a destination for day trips, a park and a place for open-air entertainment. This tradition grew into open-air theatre, the Greenwich street festival and London’s outdoor festival, and now the Greenwich Dockland International Festival is one of London’s most popular summer events.

GDIF London 2011 runs from June 24 to July 2. Over nine days, this free event will captivate several hundred thousand spectators. A total of 121 performers from around 26 countries will perform live on stages, in parks, on the streets and in unexpected locations. The Greenwich Dockland International Festival is described as breathtaking, spectacular and vibrant, as well as colourful, magical and unique. It is a London event with entertainment for the whole family. A host of dance performances, illuminated events, magnificent fireworks and pyrotechnic displays, countless theatre productions, comedy and circus acts, and special surprises create a unique atmosphere.

A look at the Greenwich Dockland International Festival programme reveals the extraordinary and the indescribable. At the Greenwich Dockland International Festival 2011, for example, visitors can expect a figure from Iron Man that will be taller than a London double-decker bus. A parade of giraffes will make its way through the local parks, accompanied by a ringmaster and a singing opera diva. All events at the Greenwich Dockland International Festival London are free of charge. This includes the magnificent outdoor performances on stages in Greenwich, Woolwich, Mile End Park and other venues throughout the nine days.
