Amy Winehouse voluntarily checks into London clinic for rehab
The gifted singer Amy Winehouse had good intentions: she wanted to finally give up alcohol and drugs. She also wanted a baby, and she wanted to move to the countryside to escape the stress of the big city.

But it seems that all her dreams and good intentions have once again come to nothing. Amy Winehouse is said to have voluntarily checked herself into a rehab clinic in London. Witnesses report, in complete shock, that early in the morning, on her way to rehab, Amy Winehouse reportedly bought a bottle of vodka and downed it in one go. She is said to have completely lost control. She ranted and staggered around until she eventually stumbled into a hair salon, where she apparently caused quite a mess in the restroom.
Sadly, she seems simply unable to give up drugs and alcohol. This is not the first time Amy Winehouse has made shocking headlines in the press. The Priory Clinic in London is now said to be helping the singer finally get her drug and alcohol problems under control. Her planned European tour is out of the question until she completes her rehab program.
Amy, born in London in 1983, has already received seven coveted Grammy Awards. In Germany, more than one million copies of her album “Back to Black” were sold, earning it five-times platinum status. Since 2008, she has also been immortalized at Madame Tussauds wax museum in London.
But when she was due to sing the title song for the Bond film “Quantum of Solace,” it had to be canceled because of her health. Amy Winehouse is very talented, but she seems unable to get her life under control. We can only hope she sees her rehab through—and, above all, that she does not relapse afterward. Clearly, her good intentions and desire for a child are no pipe dream. But apparently they still aren’t enough to make her finally put her drinking binges behind her once and for all.
And yet, lately, the Winehouse family seems to have had plenty of reason to enjoy the good things in life. Amy’s father, taxi driver Mitch Winehouse, also seems to be blessed with a talent for singing. Last year he produced his first album and signed his first record deal. The record company intends to send him to Las Vegas soon. Perhaps that is also reason enough for daughter Amy to finally make a fresh start without drugs.
