London Boat Show 2011
The current weather in London is not exactly tempting even for fans of summer activities to venture outdoors. Nevertheless, in January 2011, a very special treat awaits those fair-weather enthusiasts: the annual London Boat Show. The exhibition for leisure sailors has opened its doors more than 50 times already. It is not just pure luxury that takes centre stage at the largest show of its kind; sport is also high on the agenda. Thanks to its reputation, the London Boat Show attracts a predominantly international audience, and its product launches are on a par with those at the Geneva Motor Show.
From 7 to 16 January 2011, visitors to the London Boat Show can admire all kinds of new things afloat, although most of the exhibits are actually displayed on dry land, just a few metres from the Thames, at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, opposite the O2 Dome. Covering more than 32,000 square metres, the show has everything from luxury yachts to small dinghies. After all, England is a true seafaring nation. Britannia may no longer rule the waves, and the heyday of its overseas colonies is long gone, but sailing still enjoys undiminished prestige on the island. With such a tradition, the British take no nonsense when it comes to boats. That is why only the finest vessels can be found at the London Boat Show. Modern technology is a given, yet many types of boat have retained their traditional look. In fact, recent years have seen more and more retro boats, finished to the highest standards.

London exhibitions are always worth a visit. The London Boat Show offers a particularly special display, as it brings together dealers, manufacturers and private individuals. Like-minded visitors can then enjoy lively discussions, usually on nautical topics. It is an ideal meeting place for yacht owners and anyone hoping to become one.
