Robert Pattinson at Madame Tussauds
The famous Madame Tussauds wax museum in London has added another attraction: Robert Pattinson’s wax figure was ceremoniously unveiled on March 27 and presented to his enthusiastic (mostly female) fans. From now on, visitors to Madame Tussauds in London can get up close and personal with Robert Pattinson—in wax.
The wax figure of “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson is the latest addition to Madame Tussauds in London. Robert Pattinson is one of the most prominent young stars of today, especially among female audiences. Girls and women around the world are swooning, and the film adaptations of novels by American author Stephenie Meyer have sent the books soaring back onto the bestseller lists. While female readers praise the books as literary masterpieces, male readers—and fans of the vampire genre in particular—can only shake their heads. Critics accuse Meyer of glorifying chastity, and the pale heartthrobs in the books have little in common with “real” vampires beyond their sharp canine teeth. But that has done nothing to dampen enthusiasm for the novels. Some women would give their right arm for the chance to touch Robert Pattinson, if only once. Now that dream has come true—albeit only through his wax likeness. Somehow, though, this idealized version fits the lightweight novels and their film adaptations.
Robert Pattinson stayed away from the unveiling in London
It took almost 16 weeks and a hefty £150,000 to create Robert Pattinson’s wax figure in London. However, the female fans’ excitement was somewhat dampened when the figure was unveiled: for one thing, it doesn’t look much like the teen idol. Pattinson also stayed away from the unveiling of his alter ego. Was it because of scheduling conflicts or star behavior? In any case, most fans were delighted to see “their” Robert Pattinson in wax at Madame Tussauds in London.
