ABBA World opens in London

London is once again full of highlights and events in 2010. It’s well worth visiting the British capital for a short trip, where you can enjoy some exciting experiences this spring alongside the well-known attractions. Fans of a famous former Swedish pop group are especially in for a treat these days.

From January 27 to March 28, 2010, ABBA World will be running at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre. Fans of the four Swedes will be guided through the band’s history across 25 rooms, where they can see exclusive memorabilia, some of which has never been displayed before. Photographs, music and costumes are just a few highlights of the ABBA collection in London. For true fans, the event is an absolute must. But visitors spending a few days in London should also drop by. Even long after the band’s breakup, ABBA World is winning new fans for the famous pop group. England has always been a happy hunting ground for the Swedes. It was here that they broke through with their unforgettable hit “Waterloo” in 1974. You can relive that era up close, too. There’s even a chance to share the stage with ABBA. Modern technology allows visitors to London’s Earls Court Exhibition Centre to become part of the band. ABBA fans eager to test their knowledge can also score points in an ABBA quiz.

The band members themselves are especially excited about the premiere of ABBA World in January. The four have also taken London to their hearts. Agnetha Fältskog, Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Anni-Frid “Frida” Lyngstad are the Swedes’ real names, and the band’s name was formed from theirs as well. From 1972 to 1982, they were among Europe’s most successful musical acts. After winning the Eurovision Song Contest, the Swedes sold a remarkable 370 million albums before the band came to an end. The cult surrounding ABBA continues long after their split.
